Staunton’s skyline is a tale of two landscapes: the historic architecture of downtown and the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains beyond it. This water tank brings the two together in a striking mural, with Staunton’s architecture silhouetted against blue mountain peaks. From several vantage points, the painted ridgelines line up with the real mountains in the distance, creating a seamless connection between the tank and the landscape that makes Staunton unique. It’s a pretty great way to put the city’s view on display.
