The Town of Chadbourn’s elevated water tank brings together infrastructure renewal, local history, and community pride. Originally constructed in the 1970s, the tank was stripped of its original coating and completely restored with a new Tnemec coating system. Its renewed exterior now prominently displays the Town of Chadbourn seal, a distinctive emblem depicting the community’s agricultural and railroad heritage through strawberries, tobacco leaves, railroad tracks, and a farmer, along with the Town’s 1883 incorporation date and the motto, “A Town Growing With Its People.” The seal was originally designed by a local student in the 1970s and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2026, fittingly dating to the same era as the original tank. By restoring a landmark from that period and placing one of Chadbourn’s most recognizable symbols high above the community, the project gives new life to both a critical piece of infrastructure and a piece of the Town’s history.
