Since 2006, Tnemec has celebrated the innovative and creative uses of its coatings on water tanks with the annual Tank of the Year contest. Each year, tanks of all varieties from across the U.S. and Canada are narrowed down to determine one water tank worthy of the contest crown.
Tnemec has chosen the 2015 Tank of the Year and the crown goes to the City of Cocoa, Florida! This 156-foot-tall water tank features artwork of three American flags that stand as a huge source of community and national pride. Protected by Tnemec products since 1991, the steel elevated tank located near John F. Kennedy Space Center has become a renowned symbol on Florida's east coast.
Cocoa, Fla., was chosen out of the top 12 water tanks in the competition. The other top-voted tanks for 2015 were Plant City, Fla.; Cedarville, Ohio; Nobleton, Ontario, Canada; Lebanon, Mo.; Zebulon, N.C.; North Newton, Kan.; Amboy, Ill.; Oak Grove, Mo.; Chesterfield, Va.; Carrollton, Texas; and Mont Belvieu, Texas. All tanks will be featured in Tnemec's annual Tank of the Year calendar. You can order your copy here
The finalists were selected from a field of more than 200 water tanks nominated for the competition. The public cast a total of 20,703 votes online. The water tank that received the most votes was the Plant City, Fla., strawberry tank, which collected 5,792 votes, while the highest-voted classic tank was Pittsfield, Ohio, which collected 82 votes.
Tnemec would like to thank everyone for participating in this year's contest. Congratulations to all of the top vote-getters and to our new Tank of the Year.
