Water Tank Stays Sharp with High-Performance Topcoat
When the City of Troy, Alabama, decided to use the local university’s Trojan mascot on its 1.5 million gallon hydropillar water tank in 1998, engineers wanted a coating system that would last. Now, after more than 20 years in the field, their water tank remains a bright spot in the Alabama town, showcasing nearly all the color and gloss it had since the day it was coated.
The tank originally received a spot coat of Series 66 Hi-Build Epoxoline, followed by a full coat of Series 66. Series 73 Endura-Shield, an aliphatic acrylic urethane, was applied as the topcoat. Local Tnemec representatives visited the tank in 2020, and to their delight, the Series 73 finish continue to outperform its original expectation.
