Tnemec Introduces Advanced Generation Epoxy with Fast Cure, One-Coat Application Capabilities

(KANSAS CITY, Mo., August 3, 2009) – A fast cure modified polyamine epoxy lining for concrete and steel in water storage and treatment markets is now available from Tnemec, according to Doug Hansen, director of sales, Water Tank Market. Series FC22 Epoxoline is a 100 percent solids, thick film epoxy that has the unique advantage of rapidly curing at 75 degrees F for return to service within 24 hours.

“Series FC22 Epoxoline can achieve the required dry film thickness in a single coat, which helps to keep labor costs down while enabling a quick return to service,” Hansen noted. “Using the recommended heated plural component airless spray equipment, it’s possible to achieve optimal film thickness in a single application for excellent chemical and abrasion resistance. Contractors who have used this product like the advantages it offers over traditional coating systems that require two or three applications.”

With the ability to cure down to ambient temperatures as low as 35 degrees F, Series FC22 Epoxoline enables work on projects to continue under varying weather and seasonal conditions. And compared with polyurethane and polyurea coatings, Series FC22 Epoxoline is more tolerant and user-friendly when it comes to environmental conditions during application.

Series FC22 Epoxoline is certified by NSF International in accordance with ANSI/NSF Std. 61 for use on tanks and reservoirs of five gallons capacity or greater. The coating also conforms to the American Water Works Association (AWWA) D 102 Inside Systems No. 1 and No. 2 and AWWA C 210 standards.

In addition to Large Kit packaging, FC22 Epoxoline is also available in a new touch-up kit design. Fast and convenient, the 2-in-1 six-ounce tube configuration contains the two-component epoxy product and requires a 26:1 thrust ratio gun and disposable static mixer, both of which are available from Tnemec. The new packaging is user-friendly and great for small repairs, holidays and touch ups.

Series FC22 Epoxoline has been used successfully on several steel and concrete tanks, reservoirs and pipes in potable water service including a 500,000-gallon galvanized potable water tank in Missouri City, Texas; a 500,000-gallon ground storage tank in Owego, N.Y.; a water treatment plant project in Phoenix, Ariz.; a 1.0 million gallon standpipe in Scarborough, Maine; and a 3.0 million gallon concrete water tank in Greenlawn, N.Y.
