Tnemec Series 390/Bridgeport Glass Armor 90 Touchup Kits
When fabricators and manufacturers of oilfield tanks, bodyload and over-the-road steel tankers need to protect the interiors used to contain harsh chemicals like hydrochloric acid and solvents such as xylene and toluene, the jobs often call for a heavy-duty coating system from Tnemec. “The steel tanks can ranging in size from 4,000 to 10,000 gallon capacity and are often coated with Series 390 Tnemec/Bridgeport Glass Armor 90 based on its resistance to both solvents and hydrochloric acid concentrations greater than 20 percent,” according to Tnemec coating consultant Lane Salvato.
Series 390 is a thick-film, modified amine epoxy lining for applications in steel tanks and other chemical immersion vessels. “One coat of Series 390 combines the excellent adhesion of epoxies to prepared steel substrates with a hard-tile finish. Following coating application, every square foot of the coated surfaces is high-voltage holiday tested in accordance with NACE RPO188,” Salvato explained. “With fast-curing epoxy liners, it’s possible to conduct this required testing within hours of application. Then, repair the holidays with Tnemec’s convenient Series 390 Touchup Kits and return these tanks to service, usually within 24 to 36 hours. Turnaround time is always an issue for servicing the oil field.”
Tnemec started offering Series 390 in a new package that is designed to be more user-friendly. “The single-coat application means shop personnel spend less time in confined spaces and with the new touchup kit, personnel can repair the holidays and be out in no time,” Lane explained. This new TK (Touchup Kit) has both components packaged inside a single tube that will coat approximately 400 square inches at 20 mils WFT. These tubes come packaged six (6) in a box, along with seven (7) disposable static mixers. These tubes also require a 26:1 thrust ratio gun, Tnemec number F100-GUN1. This gun is required and can be purchased separately. G390-1232 TK's are priced per box, and not as individual tubes.
100% solids – virtually zero Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) combined with the convenience of a 2-in-1 six (6) ounce tube are ideal for small repairs and holidays. Series 390 is also compatible with other Tnemec coatings including Series 330, 345 & 350. Tnemec feels confident that this new package will aid contractors and help them with productivity, not to mention being more user-friendly.
