Tnemec's Series 700 Hydroflon Exterior Finish Coating Creates A Lasting Impression in Water Tank Market
(KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 11, 2006) – Tnemec Company Inc., a leading manufacturer of protective coatings for specialized architectural and industrial markets, now offers its HydroFlon exterior finish coating for water tanks in both gloss and semi-gloss, according to Chase Bean, vice president of sales.
HydroFlon's 15+-year life expectancy and superior gloss and color retention are on a long list of benefits of the new coating. “Technological advancements have enabled HydroFlon to lead the coatings industry in longevity and color preservation, which is one of its greatest assets,” Bean said.
A two-component fluoropolymer, HydroFlon edges out the competition with its high 62 percent volume solids and exceptional resistance to the damaging effects of ultra-violet (UV) light. “The coating is ideal for coastal environments and on structures where extremely long-term maintenance cycles are desired,” Bean noted.
When combined with Hydro-Zinc primer and an Endura-Shield intermediate coat, HydroFlon is an excellent alternative to a four-coat system, eliminating the need for a clear coat. Available in more than 500 colors, HydroFlon provides a consistent “skip free” finish.
HydroFlon offers the convenience of brush, roller or spray applications with excellent coverage rates.
As demonstrated on the graphs below, the superior color and gloss retention of HydroFlon clearly outperforms coatings previously available, such as waterborne acrylic and conventional polyurethane.

One of the first companies to have ANSI/NSF Std. 61 certification for coatings used in direct contact with drinking water, Tnemec has become the foremost provider of interior and exterior coatings for water storage tanks.
