(EDMONTON, Alberta, July 23, 2009) – HDIM Protective Coatings based in Edmonton, Alberta, has been named a product distributor for Tnemec Company Inc., a leading U.S. manufacturer of high-performance protective coatings for industrial and specialty architectural markets, announced Terry Wallace, Tnemec vice president of Sales. The agency covers Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Northwest Territories of Canada.

HDIM specializes in protective coatings and linings for structural steel, aboveground storage tanks, performance vessels, pipeline coatings (internal and external services), acid transports and production facilities used to extract crude bitumen from Canada’s oil sands. The majority of oil sands in Canada are presently located in northern Alberta where steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology requires plants to operate at higher temperatures, which places added stress on coating systems.

Tnemec manufactures and distributes Glass Armor products under license from Bridgeport Chemical. “Given the established preference in this industry for advanced coating technology, the high level of technical expertise at HDIM distinguishes us from our competitors,” Crevolin noted. “Prior to joining HDIM, our specialists were involved in some of the largest coating projects in this part of the world, requiring tens of thousands of gallons of Bridgeport materials.”
